Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF)

Under CAPF five security forces in India are under the authority of Ministry of Home Affairs. They are the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)

State Police Services

Simply known as State Police or SPS and under the control of respective state governments of the States and territories of India. The recruitment to this service is done by the respective State Governments, usually through State Public Service Commissions. Some of the posts are recruiting by the Staff Selection Commission. The candidates selected for the SPS are usually posted as Deputy Superintendent of Police or Assistant Commissioner of Police once their probationary period ends. On prescribed satisfactory service in the SPS, the officers are nominated to the Indian Police Service.
